With the arrival of warmer weather, it’s time to hit the flea market for a treasure hunt! Flea markets first got their start in the 19th century Parisian slums where vendors would sell their goods, and the scene was anything but romantic. Today, flea markets are not only regarded as must-see destinations but they also provide a great solution for sustainable shopping. If you get a thrill every time you hear the words bargain, rummage or collectable, flea markets are the perfect place for you.
For some, flea markets may feel like an overwhelming emporium of junk but for the more experienced, they are truly a second-hand shopping paradise. If you enjoy traditional shopping malls but also love garage sale prices, you’ll find all that and more at your local flea market. Here are a few reasons why flea markets are attractive destinations for both locals and visitors alike:
When you think about flea markets, the most likely picture in your mind is a large space, a variety of vendors and a palpable air of excitement. You’ve got it right! They are a large space where you can score big bargains on one-of-a-kind merchandise. While this remains to be true, flea markets also offer much more than just unique items to be purchased. In recent years, flea markets have evolved into a place where visitors can also grab a bite to eat, enjoy live entertainment and engage in other exciting events around the venue.
Cowtown Farmers Market has been operating since 1926 and today, the venue features hundreds of vendors both inside and outside of our facility twice-weekly, year-round. What began as a livestock auction, has now become the best flea market and farmers market in South Jersey. Not big on shopping? No problem, we also offer great food!
