About Us
Harris Sales Co 1927
The roots of the Cowtown Farmers Market are intertwined with the history of the Cowtown Rodeo. Since 1955 the Cowtown Rodeo has presented the thrills and excitement of a truly American Cowboy Tradition every week. Howard “Stoney” Harris first started a regular weekly auction in Woodstown, NJ in 1927. He held an annual rodeo until 1938 as a feature of the Salem County Fair, the rodeo was held on Main Street in Woodstown.
In 1961 Howard (Stoney’s son) bought Cowtown Rodeo, the livestock auction, farmers market, 1,200 acres of land and a 2,500 seat arena from his father. A new 4,000 seat arena was built in 1967. The rodeo was televised for several years and has become very well known in the industry for it’s bucking stock and bulls.
The Cowtown complex is equally famous for the Farmers Market and Auction. Market is open every Tuesday and Saturday year round from 8 AM to 4 PM. The Cowtown Rodeo and Flea Market is located on Route 40 in Pilesgrove just a couple of miles north of Woodstown.
